GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS AND COLLECTIVES

Annual Activity and Project Grants

Toronto Arts Council receives applications for funding from arts organizations across the City. Both professional and community-based not-for-profit organizations are eligible.

Project grants are zero-based; i.e. past funding history is not a factor in determining whether or not a grant is recommended or the level at which the grant is recommended.

Within the Annual Activity funding stream it is anticipated that groups will return each year for funding. To retain flexibility and encourage artistic excellence, groups receiving average or lower assessments may be given cuts of 5% to 20% of previous year’s funding. Monies made available through this process are re-distributed within the Annual Activity funding stream to new applicants and to organizations receiving above average assessments.

Appeals are available to any organization denied a grant or to any annual activity grant recipient receiving a cut of more than 5%. Appeals are made directly to the adjudicating committee.
