Have you applied for a grant before? Are you curious about what happens between the time you submit your application and when you get a response? Do you want to strengthen your own grant writing skills by understanding the process from start to finish?

Most granting bodies use an assessment process to help determine which applicants receive funding. Even for skilled grant writers, understanding this process is a vital part of putting together a clear, concise, and targeted application. In this session, staff from both the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council will lead participants in a simulated jury process, using real applications and real assessment criteria to demonstrate how decisions are made about who gets funded. Participants will get hands-on experience, have an opportunity to discuss applications and actually go through an assessment collectively. Please note that while this workshop will be focusing on the assessment of an arts activity, many of the learnings are transferable to other sectors and activities.

*At the event, we will also be accepting registrations for our intensive Grant Writing 301 workshop to take place on April 8. If you've attended one of our Grant Writing 101 workshops in the past, and are interested in taking your applications to the next stage -- register for 301!
