Toronto enters phase Red on November 14

Effective November 14, Toronto will be moved into Red – Control level of the Province of Ontario’s COVID-19 Response Framework for at least 28 days. This stage limits the gathering to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors for all public events and social gatherings.

All performing arts facilities will remain closed to spectators, but rehearsal or performing a recorded or broadcasted event remains permitted. Singers and players of brass or wind instruments must be separated from any other performers by plexiglass or other impermeable barrier.

#Lights-On Venue Reopening Guide Launches

The #Lights-On Venue Reopening Guide is a comprehensive digital resource for venue managers and event organizers that provides extensive guidance for the safe reopening of live event venues. With support from the City of Toronto, the guide was created by a committee of industry professionals as part of TAC’s collaboration with Ryerson University’s School of Creative Industries, #Lights-On: Recovery and Reboot in Live Entertainment. Regularly updated as information changes, the guide offers a wide range of strategies including patron-centered approaches and information about the latest cleaning technologies. The guide will be one of the many steps that the live entertainment community takes to ensure the safe re-opening of our venues. Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is hosting a workshop about the guide on Wednesday, November 25, 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Arts & Cultural Events in Public Spaces

About Toronto Arts Council
Toronto Arts Council (TAC) is the City of Toronto’s funding body for artists and arts organizations. Since 1974, TAC has played a major role in the city’s cultural industries by supporting a very broad range of artistic activity. From the emerging artist to the most established, from celebrated institutions to arts that challenge convention, TAC is typically the first funder to offer support. Today, TAC grants lead to exhibitions, performances, readings and workshops seen annually by over 5 million people. Through its ongoing funding of over $23 million annually, TAC cultivates a rich engagement between artists and audiences. It is proud to reflect Toronto’s vibrancy through the diversity of the artists, arts communities and audiences that it serves. For more about Toronto Arts Council, visit www.torontoartscouncil.org
